It’s been a year since I first went along to a Step Into Life session. Twelve months ago, I was not in a happy place with regard to my running. I may even have whinged about it once or twice in this blog. I would go for a one-hour trail run, then pull up lame the following day, with shards of glass in my hip; unable to walk across the carpark at work.
Within a month of Step Into Life, the hip pain had all but disappeared. And apart from one bad run, with extenuating circumstances (too much hip work the session before), it has stayed pain-free for a year. Woot!
This has been a year of “getting back into it”, running a few road races, and rediscovering my fitness. I’ve found my Happy Place again.
(Next year, I will start pushing out the distances again)
This morning, the Sprite and I headed up to No.7 Reservoir to run the Marne Loop. It’s also been a year since I last did this, and I didn’t have much fun last time. Today’s effort was much better, although watching the Sprite disappear up the first hill had me wondering if I was going to survive!
It was cold and windy on the ridge, and it started raining once we were back down in the forest. Great running weather! Then back to Log Hall for a shower and lunch (thanks guys ).
